'I am not done' - Kamala Harris tells BBC - Kamala Harris Hints at 2028 Presidential Run in BBC Interview
Washington, October 25, 2025 — Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has suggested that her political journey is far from over, telling the BBC that she is “not done” with politics and may “possibly” run for president again in 2028.
In a wide-ranging interview with BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg, Harris reflected on her 2024 presidential campaign, during which she replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee but ultimately lost to Donald Trump.
“I haven’t made a decision yet,” Harris said when asked about a 2028 run. “But I do believe that a woman will become president of the United States — for sure — within my grandnieces’ lifetime, and possibly that woman could be me.”
Promoting her new memoir, 107 Days, Harris discussed her brief 2024 campaign and criticized Biden’s team for what she called the “reckless” decision to let him seek re-election. The book also details internal tensions within the Democratic campaign and Harris’s efforts to revive party morale in the final months of the race.
Harris emphasized that public service remains central to her identity, saying it is “in my bones” and adding that “there are many ways to serve.” She brushed aside questions about polling numbers, insisting that she has never allowed public opinion surveys to shape her choices.
Political analysts view her comments as the clearest indication yet that Harris may re-enter the presidential race, potentially joining a crowded Democratic field that could include California Governor Gavin Newsom, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Representative Ro Khanna.
If she runs, Harris would seek to reclaim momentum as one of the most prominent figures in the post-Biden Democratic Party — and perhaps make another bid to become the first woman president of the United States.
